As others have said, could be throwout bearing noise, but I don't know about the shaking. The idle should be pretty smooth. Best to have a BMW expert check it... hard to tell online here.

The secondary air pump is an emission control...

The secondary air pump is an emission control device that runs the first minute or so after start up. It doesn't really rattle - it sort of hums. It's a fan in the right rear of the engine...

Does anyone know if a manual dim mirror with led for alarm can be used to replace a now non-functioning self dim mirror?
I'm not sure the wiring harness will hook up since the old mirror is wired...
