He made the license plate spring loaded and moves up and down to cover when not in use. Ingenious to say the least!

Good luck wiht the repair. I do know ECS Tuning sells new ones for $199, but from what I have seen the updated/fixed ones people have done themselves or from a vendor fix have done an excellent job....
