I like it. Moreover, I retrofitted rain and light sensor, instead of just rain sensor, along with newer LCM and light switch, so I also have automatic headlights in my 2000 540.

Are we talking about camshaft chain tensioners? Because they were not re-designed and you'll replace them with exactly same things = money wasted. Unless the spring is completely collapsed they do...

Most likely the issue is in reflector. They lose the silver coating with time, it becomes dull or comes completely off. I've just replaced one in my 540 (also driver side).

I don't see a real link between aux fan failure and 'car dies'. I think these events are separate.

Did you pay attention to temp gauge?
