I would call another dealer to check on the B+ cable. Your dealer may be right, but I can't think of a reason that BMW would use a different cable/connection in a gas & diesel car.

I recall a similar issue occurring about a year ago. The wheel bearing was installed backward. Reversing the bearing fixed the problem.

Sounds like the switch is bad - no matter which way you push/pull it, only the one set of contacts close.

It's likely the same switch on both doors, so you could swap from left/right doors and see...
