Like you say, get rid of the Goodyears, increase the aspect ratio and you'll have fewer problems.

That's not correct. The 45 series 19" tire is taller.
The diameter of a 245/35/20 tire is 26.8"
The diameter of a 245/45/19 tire is 27.7"

The only difference is the height, the width is the same as the 40 series LS2's.

The difference is 3.5%, not a big difference but no your odometer/speedometer is not re-calibrated.

As some have said they find their speedometer is more accurate with 45 series tires.

Michelin just added an A/S Run Flat in that size (245/45R19) but it's in the "Grand Touring" A/S category not "High Performance" like the Bridgestone's.
The Michelins will probably be much better...

If you live in the Northeast with potholes the size of sinkholes you need 90 series tires...
