When I swapped mine out, I only disconnected the shock bolts and used a scissor jack spread out the arms. Took me just under an hour for both sides.

(make sure to turn off the parking brake)

Before doing any other repairs I would suggest to clear the codes first and see if the light comes back. In my case the CEL had to be reset after I fixed the intake boot leak.
