T20 has an M5 thread, you can use a standard M5 allen bolt. On an M5 thread, the diameter of the bolt body is 5 mm and it has .7 threads per mm. You can find an M5 bolt at any hardware store.

There is no 'demand' that someone get a manual, it is usually a suggestion from someone with experience. Most E-39's have passed the 100,000 mile mark, and that is where the reliability factor comes...
