Well that sucks man. I don't think the rings should be bad at only 125K but running with the oil level so low may have done them in.

Hey sport-

Have you replaced the CCV valve lately? (Crank Case Ventilation valve). A clogged valve will cause oil to be sucked into the intake.
Do a search on here and you'll find plenty of DIY...

Take a look at the temperature sensor, it's located where the bottom radiator hose meets the radiator on the passenger side. See if there's a leak at the sensor.
