Best advice.

When I was looking at the F31 platform, I only had two choices. Gasoline 4cyl engine, or Diesel 4cyl engine. Coming from the N54 platform, torque was a concern.

Drove both,...

The whole point of a piggyback unit is that it can be easily removed before bringing the car in for service.

Are you suggesting technicians will spend the time searching for a trace of a...

Exactly. I do most of my driving on 30-50mph roads. 0-60 is pointless for me, which is why I chose the 328d over the 328i (even though the gasoline engine is rated higher for 0-60 specs).

I want...

I'm not looking at peak torque numbers. I'm going off of experience. Having spent 6 years with the N54 platform and now on the N47, I know from experience.

However, I wouldn't agree with this...

High upfront cost? A 2-3% price increase over the gasoline version is far from a high upfront cost.

Diesel fuel is just about the same price as premium gasoline around here and should remain...

Haven't filled my tank yet. I'll have a better idea of fuel economy in a week or so. Performance in general seems ideal. Better than the default E0 setting.

At least for the 328d, you don't move the letter, only the number. E-0 is the base tune (what it's shipped with), and the next step up is E-2. I had inquired with Racechip directly and this is what...

Yes, it's been a cold winter for the most part, but feels like it's ending early. The diesel simply takes so long to warm up when its below 32F. We hit 70F a couple weeks ago though...

Bumped mine up to the E2 setting. Seems noticeably better for performance, no codes thrown. Waiting for warmer temps (been around freezing the past week) before knowing the full impact.

Racechip Pro2 (N47) Review

Decided to make the plunge on a Racechip Pro2. Considering it was only $350 and most of the reviews were positive (the few that exist), it seemed like a worthy gamble. I really wish BMWNA had the...

Yeah, seems like a big drop with the 328d. My Z4 would only drop 1-2mpg in the winter. But I suppose thats a decent percentage when the normal average is 22mpg. ;)

Cold weather efficiency

I've only had my 328D since January, been averaging 28-30mpg (50/50 mix of city/highway). I realized on a new engine it will take some miles for the efficiency to really show, but was surprised how...

I suppose over a decade of winter driving doesn't hold any weight, huh...

I've done it all, RWD + AS, RWD + Winter, AWD + AS, AWD + Winter, FWD + AS.

You can drive any car with All-season tires...
