Not tryinng to be funny but did you use the same CD both times? Are your CDs mp3, mp4, CDA or WMA formatted? All CDs will not always play in older systems. Put in the alpine though and you can play...

The seats can be moved manually but it is a PIA. There is an small shaft out of the motor that accepts an alen wrench. this will turn the motor. But it is very slow unless you do it with a drill.

I say keep looking. For less than that price you can get one in much better shape if you take your time. I would walk away from that one and keep looking. Ebay, craigslist forum classified etc...
