1. You don't have to take out the oil pan for oil change.
2. You don't have to let the car idle for 30 minutes after oil change.
3. Proceed carefully as this issue might toast your engine.

I understand that I could use a 16mm open-ended wrench to counterhold the bolt when turning the nut to remove it. The broken ball joint did make the counterholding on this side easier....

Happened to me once in a long drive. My understanding is it might be clogged AC drain pipe. So if you are using AC a lot recently, this might be it.
