Both assumptions are valid. Either they are working on it or they aren't

The fact that no solution has surfaced in 4 years leads more credence to the assumption that a solution is not forthcoming. Perhaps they tried a couple of things and they didn't pan out. If they are...

Please, like dead people would be able to report an HPFP failure.

This may have already happened and no one knows about it. What we do have is stories in forums from various N54-powered car owners who have experienced scares at highway speeds because of sudden loss...

I am one of those people

The fact that one part is failing is not damning enough to abandon a manufacturer. The fact that the part has been failing since MY2007 and we are now in MY2010 and the same part is still failing is...

Other drivers accelerating slowly is driving me mad

A 30 second light is now barely enough for 3-5 cars to go through. In rush hour, I could be stuck for 2-3 lights easily. In Europe, everyone starts moving at the same time. Here in the US, the 1st...

aahhh, you haven't shut the door on a E90/E92 3-series obviously

They feel cheaper/flimsier than any previous 3-series.

Man, last night I dreamt that my 335xi had long cranks

This is no way to live with a new car........

Saw it at the NYIAS, it's gorgeous in person

Way better than in pics. And, you are mistaken, because the backseat is way roomier than a 3-series.

Waking this up, it's summer and the tires need to go

I prefer pickup in Stamford, CT. Will ship if buyer pays s&h. Please do not try to lowball me.

Thanks

Have them check the alternator

Mine started making a whining noise and 2 days later I had a dead battery.

I thought it looked too tranformer-ish in pics but it's awe inspiring in person

Saw it at the NYIAS. If I had not bought the 335xi coupe just 6 months ago I'd definitely spring up for the GT-R. It is a monster. And, the quality of the materials inside looked a lot better than my...

My 335's alternator just died while making this kind of noise

Left me stranded after 2 days of making the noise. BUT, the loaner 328xi is actually making a similar noise albeit considerably quieter (which probably IS the tranny)

Hmm, did I make it sound like the battery was changed? No it has not been changed

By new battery I meant that it's relatively new like the car itself. About 6 months old.

But, good points all around. The only thing that's permanently "plugged in" is my GPS and it's plugged into...

No, car operated fine until it died

Only noticeable issue was a whining noise and some of the computer settings would reset overnight. (time, mpg, etc).

Yeah, but did the 993 only have 3300 miles on it like my 335xi did?

VERY unusual. The word I got from my SA was "these cars are by no means bulletproof and they are the cause of all my stress, I had HPFPs fail in cars with less than 500 miles on them". But, he says...

How is that possible?

New battery (6 mos). Never left lights on to drain it. Plus, I had the whining noise from the engine compartment for the last 3 days which I thought were the turbos (sounded very similar to that...

Car gave up the ghost but it wasn't the turbos as I thought

Died in the middle of a busy intersection. Then, the fraking battery light came on! It would have been nice if the battery light came on BEFORE I got stranded. What POS electronics!
Waited for 60...

No, I do not have CA.

This occurence has coincided with the turbo whining "siren" like noise.
