Pretty sweet indeed. My wife got 45 mpg on her trip down to Portland and back couple weeks ago (328xd). She usually keeps it to 2-3 over the 70 mph limit.

That's the low pressure pump (lift pump). The high pressure pump is run by a chain off the camshaft/crankshaft - you cannot test it by that method.

Interesting. My wife's 328xd had it's first oil change at 7910, 2nd at 17600. So 10K might be right, but the CBS was what she followed so we really don't know, although the 2nd was only 9 months...
