You may be ok with the 35i which is not that much slower than the 4.8i. I think it was only 0.2 sec slower, but also a lot more fuel efficient. All years of X5s have 3rd row.

You didn't mention if it includes shipping. It's a good rack - with a 10mm socket ratchet you can install it in less than a minute. Love mine and I got it from a fellow member as well.
