A hard reset will definitely cure certain module issues. The modules are just little computers and very sensitive to voltage. A reset clears out any corrupt data generated during a low voltage...

Same as above. I had a pump fail on a prior E39. Symptoms like "violent" shaking are usually due to one or more cylinder's not firing or, low on power. That points to coils or fuel injectors...

Very possible but not worth the time or cost for what you can now get for a fraction of the cost. I had a MK IV in my M5. It was better than nothing but very clunky and out dated.
