I'm assuming you acquired this car privately...any history on it?

I would renew the tires and see if it behaves the same.

I'm also assuming brakes are ok, ie rotors are straight and not scored...

If the engine is cranking at its usual pace then the fault is not with the battery or alternator. If it still isn't cranking with new charged battery and new alternator, it sounds like starter motor....

I think the main BMW dealers are using a repair kit for warranty work...correct me if I'm wrong, is it the abs pump??? Had mine done a year or so ago. Perhaps an Indy can give you a sensible quote.
