I do have a real one and here is some history about the issue. I owned 3 black BMWs in a row: 2002 540, 2005 545 and 2007 550 and there is a popular Russian song "Black Bimmer" that I used to play...

They sold you a year old car with non-matching tires? Was it CPO? Anyway RFTs are better in every way except for the cost. it costs approximately 50% more to replace them.

You answered it yourself.

Here are two main points:
1. Dealer does not eat anything, it is always you or BMWFS who eats payments. I know there was a pull-ahead program from BMW that would...

There is not much sense in buying a new 550. New should be leased. Much cheaper and BMWFS takes depriciation hit. In case you will still want the car in 2-3 years (very unlikely with F10 around...

I would expect a stronger V8, if not TT then at least a bump in power for the current engine to 380-400hp (on paper) and updated electronics. As it stands now, my lease is ending in 3 month and I...

Does not make much sense. No new engine, no new iDrive and as a result, no sales. Not sure BMW can afford doing this for 2 more years.

Bridgestones are great. Dunlops - OK. Rain traction has nothing to do with RFT though. Performance "summer" tires do not like snow and/or freezing rain, RFT or non-RFT.

Same here. 2 years/30K miles lease. I have close to 16K miles on my RFT Dunlops and rears are half gone. I refuse to use winter tires so my only choice seems to be wait till they are close to 3/32 in...

Mine have 15,500 miles on them and still are OK. Rears lost more than 50% of tread though. Fronts look suprisingly good.

Looks like most dealers cannot read. The manual clear states: 1,200 miles, 100mph and 4,500 RPM. Where all those different numbers coming from I wonder. Anyway, you are not going to feel anything...

Good choices:
1. Buy additional miles from BMWFS before last 9 month at 16 cent/mile - $2,400
2. Wait till the end of lease and try to trade the car. Would work well for a car in an exceptional...

No physics here. Just 3rd grade math. If almost 100% of traction was lost (0% remaining) car would not move from stop.
In reality summer tires probably still have 70-80% traction left in dry even...

[QUOTE=Jspira;2295583]All depends if you have all seasons or summer tires.
Summer tires lose almost 100% traction when the temp. is 7***176; C or lower.

Not necessarily. My 2007 550 was cheaper to lease that my 2002 540. What is worst about leasing is that it takes away the pride of ownership and new car excitement. You know in advance that in 2-3...

IMHO, 2008 550 no question. Just wait a little bit if you can. In 3-4 months they will be discounting 550s a lot. By that time most car magazines will find 535 to be equally fast if not faster than...

I would say stay away from any 2004/2005 E60 especially 545. I owned 2002 540 and it was virtually trouble free for 40K miles. My 2005 545 was finished by the time it was 17 month old and had 15.5K...

That not necessarily the engine. Logic 7 alone is probably 100 lbs, plus other options that are standard on 335. You should compare 335 with 330 not 328.
