Yeah the radio turns off when I turn the ignition off but I can turn it on without the key in the ignition. The 20 minutes after shutting the car off I believe applies only until someone opens a door...

If you look from the back of the unit, you have to be working with the ten pin gang to to bottom right and pins 8 and 9 are the 3rd and 4th pins on the top...
