I borrowed an ebay special wifi OBD adapter from a friend; needless to say, it didn't allow for coding. Got the official one and no issues.

I'd have to think the engine stopping, oil...

I'd have to think the engine stopping, oil draining back to the pan, and the starter engaging again *has* to cause more wear on an engine. Thankfully I don't have this "feature." :D
