The 2011 35. I've only driven the new 4 banger in a three series; it clattered worse than my TDI and wasn't nearly as smooth as the traditional BMW 6 cylenders. To be fair, it was pretty quick.

I'd take it back for repair. Your check engine light shouldn't be coming on. Guess I was lucky that the computer stored the info about which part had failed on my X3.

The i35 is a rocket compared to the 28. I own a 2011 28 (6 cylinder). It's a nice smooth driver and plenty of grunt. But the 35 is more of a blast to drive.
