Bought a '95 E36 M3 for my son, this summer. Has stock DS1 wheels (17 X 7.5) with 235/40-17 rubber (stock size). Slightly lowered, and 10mm spacers..

Will need new tires, next...

When you do your search, look for a 2005 model.. Many sources don't note that the E46 coupe/convertible platform carried over until 2006.

IOW, our 330i with 17" stock wheels has a lower recommended PSI than our 330Ci with 18" stock...

Either size will fit the 7.5" wheel, but the 225/45-17 will look a little better. I've run both sizes on three different E46s, and haven't...

The Hankooks are a great value for a car that doesn't see a lot of mileage... (like an E24 or E30). They wear out pretty fast on a daily driver, though. And, performance drops off even more...

The procedure listed above is what was done for my car.. Not cheap, and because no parts replaced, not covered by the CPO warranty.. Around $500, IIRC.. It did fix the problem..

Wow... Tire sizes have really changed on the F25 X3 from the first year model in 2011. Our X3 has 245/45-17.. Much lower profile than the newer model.

I wouldn't bother with adjustables (either Bilstein or Koni), unless you want a stiffer ride..
