Although it's possible for the N54 to have the lifter issue, it's very rare. The lifter issue is much more common on the N52 non turbo motor. Both of your linked articles are referring to the N52.

93K miles on my E90 335i. My E46 had 120K miles before I got rid of it. No issues whatsoever. I really enjoy the 6spd on the E90, one of the best gearboxes I've had the pleasure of rowing.

The best idea is to just change the oil yourself and then use that as a baseline. Many members on here change their oil at roughly half the recommended interval, or about 7500 miles.
