- Check the fuel pump. Remove the fuel pump relay in the trunk, use an Ohmmeter to measure the 87 and ground.
Fuel Pump winding has a resistance of about 1.0-1.5 Ohms....

I don't think he has to replace the M52 engine because mechanically, there was nothing wrong with it to start with.
Just sludge-looking engine.

This issue has been solved in modern cars made...

This (clunking) is a known issues for Bilstein struts in E39 models.

BTW, I have Bilstein in my 98 Volvo S70, zero problems...

My Bilstein HD struts were installed Sept 2009. The clunk developed in March 2011, about 1.5 years afterward.
I am "sitting" on the problem now. The reasons were outline in my post #4 above.

For any non-driver window, use ebay stuff. my LR window: I used ebay regulator repair kit ($15 on ebay). Not perfect but it works after some mod.

So I have a basic rule: as long as there is no oil on driveway, I simply use "wipe-and-watch" approach.
