I use the same setup on my 10 X5d and also love it. One suggestion with the trailer mounted unit is to use tamper proof screws. I once had a jack stolen from my trailer so took the extra precaution.

I agree. I have 13,000mi now on my 07 and I love every mile I drive it. I had everything reprogrammed last fall and it's been excellent since. Don't let the vocal few keep you from test driving it....
