Double check everything was replaced when taken...

Double check everything was replaced when taken apart for the head gasket. A video would greatly help, but is not necessary. There is a good chance the immobilizer is not working and isn't allowing...

I think your talking about the hose that goes to the pcv valve. That will cause major problems if unplugged. The maf code could be from the vacuum leak. The o2 sensor in the front would be the bank 1...

Those codes look like a bad maf and definitely an air leak somewhere. The bank 1 code gives away the air leak, if you had a bank 1 and bank 2 code that would be a definite maf.

I have a 96 z3 1.9 m44.

The car has had a rough idle since I bought it; Only 75,000 miles on it.

I changed:
Cam position sensor
Front o2 sensor
Spark plugs
Coil on plug conversion
Pcv valve

Completely forgot we were talking about the M haha they didn't change anything on the M those years did they? I know the z3 roadster got updated tail lights in 00-02

I'm always a big fan of lower miles but I like the 00 z3s more. S54 engine is a little better in my opinion.

I would not recommend putting anything on the intake manifold gaskets. And yes usually these should be torqued in sequence to spec. Most likely a 3 stage tightening

I believe the m52 and m44 engines use the one without the regulator [96-99]
And the m54 uses the fuel regulator built onto the fuel filter [00-02]

I believe this to be true with all bmws

I'm 24, I bought my z3 as my birthday present to myself haha I love the way these cars look. The long hood wide body. Now I just need a hard top for it, I'm not a convertible fan.

If you're able to keep it running with higher revs I wouldn't think it's the crank position sensor; although, I'm not saying rule it out completely.
