This is close the what I did for testing mine. However my sub was shot, so replaced it with a similar sized one. Very few dual voice coil (DVC) ones out there...so this repair is very much worth it.

Based on what you posted, the light issue may be directly related to a weak battery. Mine did that...swapped for new battery...fixed it perfectly. Also, the weak battery may also cause the ODB2 port...
