I did swap my differential from stock 3.15 to 3.46 (out of 3.0 auto trans Z3). My car is quicker off the line, but I lost some top end and my highway mileage suffered a bit.

It is NLA new, but I would at least mention the Downing Atlanta supercharger that was once sold for the M44. It would bump horsepower up to about 190. A used kit occasionally pops up here and there.

Your 98 has a 2.8L M52 motor. The emissions control system might have been shared with other models across the BMW line as listed on that sticker, but no 2.5L engines were installed in Z3's in 1998....
