Clip off the end of the sensor, strip off a little insulation from both wires, twist them together, wrap in electrical tape, zip tie out of the way. Done.

This cubby just pulls out - no screws or anything. Just grasp the open lid and give a good tug. I snaked the cord through the passenger side hinge area. No cutting or drilling needed.
