FYI- all of the diesels you mentioned have 3.0L engines. The x5 xDrive 40d is a bi-turbo and the x5 M50d is a tri-turbo, but they are all 3.0 L displacement.

If you have a lead acid battery in your car then the battery should have a vent port to connect that fitting.
If you have an AGM (absorbed glass mat) battery then it won't have the vent.

Not sure what they are using on the F10 "535d" and the X5 d brought here to the US this year.
