I wouldn't be too worried for that trip Ed. Floor pans obviously aren't structural, so the trailer doesn't really make a difference. Did your mechanic give you a quote?

Might be low fuel pressure due to a bad pump, clogged filter, bad regulator, etc. Maybe even an injector if it's only knocking in one cylinder.
