I'd have to echo lk's thoughts. If you don't have angina now, you will before you're through your itinerary....you're really biting off a lot between the Austrian and French sections of your trip....

Yes it's safe, yes, you can park there.

Most people have recommended secure parking. We didn't but we were in a nice neighborhood.

Croatia is covered by insurance.

We went, with three young children, from Lake Bled and Postojna, Slovenia, to the Plitvice area. Great roads except for the last hour or so, when they were more typical of the two lane roads all over...
