Oil Change Due Soon Alert

A bit surprised that my X4 displayed an orange "Oil Change Due Soon" alert in iDrive - with 1,300 miles to go. The car only has 8,500 miles on the clock, so this will be her first official oil...

"Classic" iDrive

I have iDrive 5 on my '17 X4. There is no "Classic mode" option within iDrive. It may be possible to revert back to iDrive 4 through coding, I suppose, but I actually doubt it. As you may know,...

I don't know the scientific answer to your question, but the X4 M40i is a relatively new (2014?) model in the BMW lineup. I recall a user on one of these forums claiming that he owns "the first X4...

That function is tricky. I'd suggest you watch the videos on U-tube to get the technique down. For me, the key was/is to take a step back as you do the "kick." The tailgate will not open if the car...

I only have 7,000 ticks on the clock, but if I add that mileage and what the computer thinks I have left, I get to about 45,000 miles. I actually expect that final number to increase, but I am sure...

E83 is the series number - nothing to do with the engine. Like we had the E60 for the 5-series, then F10 for the newer 5-series (which has just gone to G30). Your '07 X3 3.0si has the N52B30 motor.

The BMW dealer is probably NOT the place to get this taken care of. They tend to not think "outside the box" and you do need an "outside the box" solution.
Perhaps you should also pose your question...

If you dig the M235i, you will like the M40i. The M40i is insanely fast, thanks to X-drive, and it has the same motor found in the M2 (N55B30T0) - albeit slightly de-tuned):

N55B30T0 (265 kW)...

I test drove the X4 2.8i before ordering my X4 M40i. The 2.8i was plenty quick and responsive. So from that narrow perspective, I would say go with the 2.8i.

However, there are a lot of other...
