It could be a solenoid issue, but it sounds more like the Mechatronic's adapter might be failing? The adapter gets hard & brittle of time, failing to hold pressure to the valve body.

Would you consider doing this, over the new pipe install? I would pull the intake & change the pipe, just to make sure. The seal method is only saving you around 350.00, if you do it yourself.
