Yes. I brought up the same issue when I test drove the i3 and I'm told it will light up although just the lower tail lights. When you hit the brakes all of them light up including the one up top.

Ours had bad MPG numbers for a 4 cylinder and my 330i got better numbers but lately it has improved. Used to get about 350 miles per tankful and now we are pushing 400. Mostly suburban driving...

Thanks but it is weird that the manual never even mentioned it. It never occurred to me to check the gas cap as it's never happened to me so what are the chances right? All's well that ends well :-)
