The early E30 (like my 323i) had a huge radiator with a seperate water reservoir a'la Golf.
If you need to go bigger than that, there must be something wrong !...

Replacing the pipes, pump etc. was a mission as they are not availiable here new.

Some later ECU's got more fussy about water and air temperature, but not ours :)
Engines are generally happy with the temperature being between 75 to 115 C...
