To add to what Eero wrote you need one with the same data Plate (made for an E34). IIRC the housing and mounting points on the E30 and E34 transmissions were different.

Remove the PS belt and retest. The pump could've seized up. Removing the belt will allow the engine to run without it. If the engine runs fine you've found the culprit.
