If the noise is coming from near the oil filter...

If the noise is coming from near the oil filter housing, it could be part of the fuel emissions system. This is normal on start up, check valve of some sort IIRC.

Had the same problem, replaced the front thrust...

Had the same problem, replaced the front thrust arm bushings and the steering wheel shimmy during braking and at 45 to 50mph went away. Glad I didn't replace my almost new pads and rotors.
