Window motors rarely go bad! The regulator is the one that gives up the ghost. As for fitting the motor to the new regulator, just match up the splines, align the bolt holes, secure it...Done!...

Check voltage across terminals with key OFF, should read between 12.4 and 12.7. Less than 12.4 means the battery needs to be charged. Other possibilities could be loose connection(s) or alternator....

Don't let them tell you the cause of the starter failure was due to not having a Genuine BMW battery! I have Interstate batteries in both my X3 and 530, and I forget why I took in one of my vehicles...
