Read up a lot on non-factory maintenance plans. Most are crap, and a whole lot of those companies will go under leaving you with nothing at all except a receipt and empty pockets. If you can get a BMW-sponsored plan, especially a CPO/extended warranty, go with that. It will cover your very expensive repairs most of the time. I would never get an aftermarket extended warranty after hearing horrible stories from 2 of my friends personally and dozens of people on rennlist.com and other forums.
