Yes. With regard to the US, any 540iA not ordered with the sport package came with the 2.81 ratio.
What if the sport package was ordered on a 540iA? In that case, it was not until 9/98 that the package included a 3.15. So no 3.15 on '98 540iA sport models. - Tyrone
from the factory, only the M5 came with LSD and it's a 3.15
