We had a major debate with BMW Canada and infact had a big meeting with regional manager here in toronto and basically this is somethin notorious with these 7 series models (E65/66) because its an electronic/ drive by wire transmission as oppose to the regular transmission. So when you switch gears it is suppose to do this
The new S-Class has the same transmission, so does the new M-Class, and I think the neweer X5s and 5 series (MY-2008) have a similar design, but I personally didnt feel that bad of a jerk while switching gears from P-R-D
This is usually more promininent when you are on slopes
eg: backing out of ur driveway 
Its a pity this technology is relatively new and has to be perfected or whatever needs to be changed, so this can be avoided
Hopefully the new body style 760Li will not have this problem and then we can order the individual series and be content as 7 series customers
