What BMW Customer Service has to say now . . .
Both Tischer and my dealer said neither of the part numbers listed in my previous post were orderable by US dealers. Although I was hopeful I can't say that this was a surprise. So I once again called my contact at BMW Customer Service. He insisted the parts were available and the dealers just weren't following the proper ordering procedure. Several weeks and many conversation later the BMW Customer Service rep finally told me that his "parts specialist" discovered these parts. indeed, are not available to US dealers.
I don't know what disappoints me more, the fact that it took a BMW representative months to discover the unavailability of a part; or the "we don't care" attitude of BMW toward those customers that don't feel comfortable driving their cars without a spare. If your travels take you more than a few hours away from a major metropolitan area, you are looking at a day or two wait for a replacement tire. This is simply not acceptable. I purchased two of their cars in the last 9 months. I'll look elsewhere for my next cars.
My hat is off to Tischer for pulling together this "kit" for us.
