Called the dealership this morning to price the CCV and hoses change and was quoted 850.00 (which he said was the "INEXPENSIVE FIX!)!! He offered the "expensive fix" which included a "heated intake manifold" but since I'm fond of consciousness, I didn't ask him the price. Oh yeah, the 850.00 didn't include the valve cover gasket but does include a new dipstick tube. My '03 X5 is running great but i've noticed the dreaded sludge on the oil filler cap and the CCV hose that runs off the valve cover...and since I live in south dakota, it seems I should get be getting busy busting my knuckles! Thanks for all the info on this difficult problem!
