It's good to know the horn and fuel pump relays are the same. This is a big help in diagnosing problems. We just had a thread regarding a problem like this on the E46 forum (I've got one of those too). The relays are also the same on those newer 3-series cars. A bad cap, rotor, or ignition wires, along with the crankshaft position sensor can also lead to these kinds of problems.
