I would suggest trying the DCT, but I would try and drive the car for a day or two if possible. If you are a MT guy, you will stay a MT guy. I have the DCT, nice tranny, but I wish I would have stayed with the MT. The DCT was cool at first, now it's just OK. I don't hate it, but with a MT I felt more connected to my car. Plus, you said the car you priced is 42K, add another $1500 for the DCT.
