Mein Auto: 2011 X5 xDrive35d
Open one of the rear windows a tiny bit and then try shutting the doors again. If they're easier to shut then it's likely that the tight seals on the X5 are the problem. I had a 2001 X5 with doors that felt very similar to the 2011 I just got. The 335i e92 that I traded in had frameless windows that made the doors easier to shut, but the sound that they made was far more unpleasant when someone slammed them.

You can train yourself to pull the doors shut without slamming them, but you'll find that most passengers will slam away no matter how nicely you ask them not to.
