The car needs to "settle in" is a BS!!!! All that needs to be done is to adjust the striker - the "loop"-like looking thingy on your car's body frame, onto which the door lock's latches. It has 2 screws - loosen them up about 1/2-3/4 turn, and slide the striker outwards (toward the outside of the car) for about 1mm. Re-tighten the screw and try closing the door - you will see the difference. Make sure you dont "overdo" it, as the door then will rattle a bit.

I've done one too many times on just about every car I've owned. A 2-minute job. I also use masking tape around the striker to "remember" its original position, in case I need to move it back where it was.
