So I only got about 53,000 miles out of the second one, Hmmmm. I think it was caused about age for the brittle plastic. I would think the stress cracks, if caused by engine mounts, would have made the connections between the engine and the radiator to break between the major neck connections- not the 6-1/2 " crack I ended up with.

I feel so lucky that it happened in my own driveway. BTW, my new Behr OEM radiator was sourced from South Africa, where it was built.

BTW, I have been told by another BMW owner that they can be rebuilt,(save the core) there is only one manufacturer for ANY brand of radiators. Ford, BMW, Mercedes, GM, Toyota, and Lexus.

I will research this allegation.

Anyway, I hope you all can see that there is not one way for the radiator to blow, or lose fluid, or to think you will be stranded.

And don't be stressed, in your mind, that it may happen at any moment.

Although it might.
