GlennSheppley - you seem experience w this issue since you actually took yours apart. Are there electronic sensors in there? I was asking on my post above why - in my case - i only experienced resistance baking up only once when the lights came on. I don't have a whining noise. So I'm hoping that there's a sensor issue and not an actual mechanical issue. It's been a weeks nice the lights came on and off and I drive 100 miles a day and no problems or noises observed.
