Interesting. I just pulled in from a 300 mile road trip and measured the following with my Raytek MT6:
Ambient: 84F
Oil Temperature: 210 (indicated)

(Black) Hood: 101F
Left Side Engine Cover: 141F
Right Side Engine Cover: 131F
Left Valve Cover: 171F
Right Valve Cover: 155F
Engine Block: 208F
Water Pump: 198F
Air Filter Cover: 120F

Odd that we should be so different. I was also surprised at my side-to-side variance. Did you measure both sides and get the same temp for each?
